The CALS ISO-8613 specification facilitates the exchange of electronicdata between different systems with ease. The CALS Tiled RasterInterchange file Format Conversion Server (FCS) performs raster dataformat conversion between a wide variety of proprietary file formats andthe Tiled Raster Interchange Format (TRIF) as given in the CLAS MIL-R-28 and ISO-8613 specifications.FCS works with TIFF, NIFF, Vidar, DCX, and PCX file formats. Itfacilitates conversion to and from any adequately documented proprietaryformat. FCS easily integrates into an existing system or NFS network. Iteliminates the need for several independent conversion servers.Conversion processing takes place on the FCS host machine, and isinitiated by a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) specifying input and outputformats. FCS can produce an overview file (A-size average at 200 dpi)along with the full-size TIFF file.
